There exists a journey undertaken not to conquer mountain peaks, but to safeguard every path leading into the forests.
On 16th August, our TA TUN Mountaineering Society joined hands with the Shanmeng Public Welfare Association to participate in the ‘Small Kindness Project’, inviting volunteer partners from National Central University’s Mountaineering Society to walk alongside us. Venturing into Taoyuan’s Taman Mountain, this was more than just a hike; it represented a corporate commitment to the local environment. We carried not merely our gear, but the responsibility to ‘make mountain trails safer and forests more sustainable.’
During this expedition, each volunteer’s rucksack weighed over 10 kilograms, packed with tools and materials for the construction work. Though burdened by heavy equipment as we traversed mountains and valleys, we pressed on resolutely. For each of us understood that this weight bore the profound meaning of safeguarding our forests.
As we installed 72 bidirectional reflective trail markers along the route, knee-high grasses rustled in the forest. Each hammer strike on the reflective panels echoed through the woods, a resonance that was our pledge to the mountains. What moved us most was witnessing these newly placed markers prove their worth immediately on our return journey. Though some sections lacked clear trails, the reflective markers guided us safely along the correct path out of the forest.
Sweat glistened on our brows, laughter echoed among teammates through the woods, etching a moving chapter into this mountain landscape. Now, seventy-two warm beacons illuminate this mountain path, accompanying every future traveller who ventures into these forests. Our names may not be remembered, but we believe this safeguarded mountain path will allow more people to venture further with peace of mind and safety.
This is the spirit of our company, Da Dong Electric – walking into the mountains together, leaving a little goodness behind for the land through our actions.
